FAQ

HOW CAN WE BOOK YOU? HOW CAN WE PAY?
If you’re ready to book, let’s check the date and make it happen, we’re all yours with a signed contract and deposit. The balance in full is due one month prior to your wedding date. For portraits, the balance is due at the time of your session. We accept payments via Cash, EFT, Cheque, or Credit Card.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
It’s never too soon to ask… and it’s never too late to ask. We’ve booked weddings from 4 weeks to 18 months in advance! We operate on a “first come, first served” basis, so I suggest getting in touch with me as soon as you have a firm date.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE BOOK?
We’d love to hear all about your plans, and we’ll be available to help you with questions relating to timing, locations, styling etc – any details that are confirmed will be recorded on your booking form and the blanks can be filled in as they come to hand. Then you can relax, check one thing off your list, and move on. A few weeks before the wedding we’ll catch up again and confirm everything and make some notes about special features and must have shots.

AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION, REALLY?
Really! A complimentary engagement session is our gift to you. It allows us to get to know each other and establish a relationship without the pressure of a wedding. That means that on your wedding day you can relax and focus on having a great time, resulting in better photographs (and better memories). Plus, they are fun! But they aren’t mandatory – choosing not to use your engagement session does not alter the package price, nor is it replaceable by any other product or service. I suggest engagement sessions be done at least 3 months before your wedding.

DO YOU REQUIRE A MEAL AT OUR WEDDING?
With most of our packages we will leave before meals are served, however if you have requested an extended coverage that includes your reception, then Yes please! I promise we have excellent table manners!

DO YOU TAKE TRADITIONAL FAMILY PORTRAITS AT WEDDINGS?
Yes, absolutely; usually after your ceremony. We will discuss the desired combinations with you in advance (usually at our pre-wedding get together), and we’ll try to make it snappy. Pro-tip: plan for two minutes per combination to get everyone organized.

WILL THE PHOTOS BE RETOUCHED? WILL THERE BE BLACK & WHITE?
Each image is custom-edited for colour and contrast, and I use my, ahem, artistic discretion to choose whether black & white and a variety of other effects are the best treatment (see our blog page article on image options). Light retouching will be applied if necessary and we are happy to discuss specific requests (pimples, scratches etc).

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE RECEIVE?
It depends, but a full day of wedding photography typically results in anywhere from 50 to 100 images per hour of coverage, so 400 to 600 final images is typical. We will be photographing for quality and variety rather than quantity.

WHEN WILL THE IMAGES BE READY?
For weddings, there will be a sneak peek on our blog within a week of your wedding, and all of your images will usually be available within 2-3 weeks.

WILL WE GET OUR IMAGES ON A DISC?
Of course! we don’t believe in holding images hostage. You’ll receive all of the final images from your wedding edited and in high-resolution. I’ll also hook you up with a set of low-resolution files for sharing online, which will save you tons of uploading time! (These usually look better on Facebook, too.)

DO WE GET THE COPYRIGHT?
What you’ll receive is a joint copyright license for personal use. This means you can make all of the photobooks, prints, and cards your heart desires, as long as they are for you, your family or friends. You may not sell them or use them for any commercial purpose, including giving them to other wedding vendors to advertise their businesses. The “joint” ownership allows us the right to use the images for advertising and display purposes (with your approval, of course) and to print images on your behalf if you prefer not to have the hassle of doing it yourself. If you have any questions about usage, get in touch with me and I’ll help you out!

DO YOU TRAVEL?
Absolutely!  We have photographed weddings all over South Australia, as well as interstate and we’re always open to something new (Fiji, Hong Kong, Tuscany – just ask). Our fees are pretty straightforward : choose your package* and add airfare (or mileage) & accommodations.

Remember, at Nu Image, experience is  the difference and we are open to any ideas you may have.

Happy planning,

Peter Stephens, Photographer
